The strike call was given by the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA).
In response to the staff shortage, hospital management instructed all senior caregivers, including teaching staff, to cancel their leaves and resume their duties.
At Gandhi Hospital, authorities managed to keep the outpatient wing operational on Monday. However, they had to postpone more than 50 elective surgeries due to the strike. From early morning, junior doctors participated in protests and boycotted their outpatient and elective surgery duties.
The junior doctors are demanding several key improvements, including a system to ensure paying stipends regularly, better hostel facilities, and enhanced security within hospital premises. They voiced their concerns and raised slogans highlighting these issues.
A senior health official stated that the state government is expected to engage in talks with the striking medicos on Monday afternoon or evening to address their demands and seek a resolution to the ongoing crisis.
