Hyderabad: The Telangana government will celebrate Independence Day at the iconic Golconda Fort in a grand manner this year.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari reviewed the arrangements for the event at a high-level meeting on Tuesday.
On August 15, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will hoist the national flag at the fort and pay tribute to the freedom fighters at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Secunderabad Parade Ground. The chief secretary directed the departments concerned to make elaborate arrangements for the event.
She said that appropriate arrangements should be made in coordination with Army GOC officials at the Martyrs’ Memorial.
The Telangana police, roads, buildings, information department, GHMC, electricity, transport, and other departments were directed to make necessary arrangements.
DGP Anjani Kumar, Municipal Department special chief secretary Arvind Kumar, principal secretary Home Jitender, health secretary SAM Rizvi, GAD secretary Seshadri, additional DGs Abhilasha Bist and SK Jain, city police commissioner CV Anand, Culture and Youth Services Department secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer, and other officials were present at the review meeting.
