Telangana likely to see sunny breaks after weeks of rain and cloudy skies

Hyderabad: After nearly a fortnight of overcast skies and persistent showers, Telangana is likely to witness clearer conditions from Wednesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and independent weather trackers have predicted a break in the wet spell, with sunny intervals expected across several parts of the State.

Changes in monsoon pattern

K Nagaratha, Head of IMD-Hyderabad, stated that rainfall activity is set to reduce.

“There will be light to moderate rains in a few places in the north, northwest, and northeast districts of Telangana and light rain or drizzle in the GHMC area. The rest of the state is likely to see less rain. Sunny conditions are ahead from today onwards in many parts of Telangana,” she posted on X.

IMD meteorologist KS Sridhar, speaking to NewsMeter, explained that the shift in weather was linked to changes in the monsoon pattern

“The low-pressure system has moved away into central India. Telangana will now experience a drier phase, with only isolated showers. This is part of the natural monsoon cycle,”.

Independent weather trackers predict dry spell

Weather tracker T Balaji, known as Telangana Weather, posted on X, stating, “Dear people of Hyderabad and Telangana, get ready for Surya Darshan. The low pressure area has almost moved away, and we will have a good amount of sunshine, especially in the late morning hours. There will be moderate passing showers in parts of the city on Wednesday,”.

Outlook for the next few days

• Wednesday (August 20): Partly cloudy skies in Hyderabad with light drizzle in some areas. Sunshine expected by late morning and afternoon.

• Thursday (August 21): Mostly dry conditions across Telangana, with isolated light showers in northern districts. Hyderabad is likely to stay sunny with patchy clouds.

• Friday (August 22): Dry weather expected across most of the state. Temperatures may rise by 2–3°C as sunshine becomes more dominant.

• Weekend (August 23–24): Predominantly sunny conditions across Telangana with very limited rainfall activity. Only a few pockets in northern districts may see brief showers.

Relief after wet spell

The return of sunshine is expected to bring relief to residents after waterlogged roads, power cuts, and transport delays caused by the recent downpour. Meteorologists, however, cautioned that occasional light showers are still possible during the week, especially in northern districts.
