Telangana Mobility Valley: TS to set up 4 EV clusters

Hyderabad: Telangana Mobility Valley, the first new mobility focus cluster, will be set up in Zaheerabad, Seetharampur, Divitipally, and Yentkathala in Telangana, said state minister for industries and commerce K.T. Rama Rao in Hyderabad on Monday.

The first edition of Mobility Next Hyderabad EV Summit is being organised in Hyderabad before the Formula E race that is set to begin on 11 February.

4 mega clusters for innovation, sustainable mobility

The Telangana Mobility Valley is aimed at creating an EV manufacturing hub in Zaheerabad, Seetharampur, an energy storage system cluster in Divitipally, and an innovation cluster with an automobile university at Yenkathala. This innovation centre will have art labs for EV power trains, EV batteries, and other component test labs. There will also be autonomous vehicles that will be tested in the 100 plus acres at Yenkathala.

Recycling used batteries

The biggest challenge with EVs is the reusing of batteries. While a lot of research and development work is being done in this area, the breakthrough has been limited. In TMV, apart from manufacturing, the energy storage system clusters will also have a cluster for battery recycling facilities.

This is important to minimise the carbon footprint and reduce the costs of production for developing battery packs for EVs.

Bringing together industry and academia

At TMV, the focus will be on setting up industry and academia to nurture talents that will be required for the fast-evolving and ever-changing EV industry. With the use of Artificial Intelligence and the automation process, it has become very important to have these components imbibed in academia for industry-ready skills.

KTR explained, “The first automotive cyber security collaboration is between BITS Hyderabad and BOSCH which will be launched in the upcoming academic year. This will help to meet the requirements of the changing automotive industry.”

Investments in TMV are from:

· Amara Raja to invest Rs. 9,500 crores in setting up Li-Ion giga-factory.
