Hyderabad: The Telangana government has initiated action against 13 officials for delaying TS-bPASS applications and imposed fines against them.
In a letter, the government instructed the respective district collectors to impose penalties ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000 against the officials concerned. These officials comprise two municipal commissioners and 11 scrutiny officers who failed to process TS-bPASS applications within the specified time frame.
In an effort to ensure hassle-free building permissions and a streamlined building approval process, the Telangana government enacted the TS-bPASS Act 2020, allowing citizens to obtain permissions online in an objective and time-bound manner. However, recent observations revealed that some officers in municipalities and municipal corporations are causing significant delays in processing applications.
The government has been closely monitoring the performance of various officials and is committed to holding erring individuals accountable. Since the implementation of TS-bPASS in 2020, penalties have been levied 10 times, resulting in a total of 103 officials being fined for their delays.
To prevent future delays, the government advised the district collectors to review the approval process more frequently to ensure that applications are processed in a timely manner and citizens are not inconvenienced.
