Telangana polls: Congress' Revanth Reddy has 90 criminal cases pending, BJP's Raja Singh close second with 75 FIRs

Telangana: Malkajgiri MP and Kondagal Congress MLA candidate A Revanth Reddy and Goshamahal BJP MLA candidate T Raja Singh are the politicians with the highest number of criminal cases registered them.

According to Revanth Reddy’s election affidavit 2023, 90 FIRs have been registered against him in different police stations under various sections. Likewise, 75 criminal cases have been booked against Raja Singh.

This is perhaps the highest number of cases ever registered against a politician in a state.

Revanth Reddy will be contesting against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the Kamareddy Assembly constituency.

According to the affidavit, the majority of the FIRs were related to hate speech against the ruling party. The charges include violation of promulgation orders of the competent authority and provocative speeches.

Revanth and his spouse Geetha Jaypal Reddy together own assets of Rs 28.74 Crore that include Movable assets as per the government rate (cash, deposits vehicles, pistol, and riffle, gold and diamonds), and Immovable assets (agriculture, commercial properties). While the liabilities sum up to Rs 1.3 Crore (bank loans).

The couple owns lands in Gopanpally, Nacharam, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, and Nagarkurnool.

Raja Singh

According to the affidavit of Raja Singh, 95% of the cases are for hurting religious feelings, while others are for assaulting public servants on duty and fines.

The criminal records 11 pages in the affidavit. His affidavit has the maximum downloads when compared to others.

MLA T Raja Singh was suspended from the BJP party for making objectionable comments against a particular religion. He was jailed for 75 days for allegedly insulting Prophet Mohammed in August 2022. Although the Telangana High Court granted him conditional bail and directed him not to make inflammatory comments, he continues to spread hate against the Muslim community.

Recently, he urged Hindu women not to become friends with "burqa-wearing women", in a clear case of spreading hate against the Muslim community. The video went viral across social media platforms, forcing the BJP to suspend him from the party.

In another meeting at Adilabad, he said, "Whoever has a tilak on his forehead is my brother and a Hindu. I will befriend only people who sport a tilak. Our women, please do not become friends with burqa-wearing women. There was a time when we were under threat from Aftab, but now there is a threat from Ayesha as well. These are the Ayeshas who are introducing [Hindu] women to Aftabs."
