Telangana safely evacuates 72 students from violence-hit Manipur

Hyderabad: The Telangana government successfully evacuated 72 students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from Manipur where an internal conflict has been escalating.

The state government took the initiative to ensure the safe return of the students, bearing all the evacuation costs. The students arrived at Hyderabadā€™s Shamshabad airport at approximately 1.22 p.m. on Monday.

The Telangana chief secretary and the director general of police, along with various government officials, oversaw the entire operation. To expedite the evacuation process, a special flight was arranged from Imphal, Manipur, to transport the students back to their home state. The remaining 130 students will arrive in Hyderabad either on Monday night or Tuesday morning, with some scheduled to fly via Raipur, Patna, and Bhubaneswar.

Upon the arrival of the special flight, state labour minister C.H. Malla Reddy, Rajendra Nagar MLA Prakash Goud, additional DG Mahesh Bhagwat, Abhilasha Bist, DIG B. Sumati, Rangareddy district collector Harish, protocol director Arvinder Singh, and other officials were present to welcome the students. The government representatives expressed their gratitude to Telangana Chief Minister KCR for his proactive measures in ensuring the safe return of the students from Manipur.

Students themselves expressed their relief and appreciation for the Telangana governmentā€™s efforts. Harshavardhan, one of the students, expressed his happiness and extended special thanks to Chief Minister KCR for the governmentā€™s prompt action.

Another student, C.H. Prashoopti, from Manipur NIT, said MLC Kavitha gave them courage and support during difficult times.

P.L. Rao, who owns a highway construction company in Manipur and Nagaland, along with his wife Amita were also among the passengers on the special flight. They expressed their gratitude to KCR and minister KTR for their immediate response and assistance.
