Telangana's Dial-112 foils rape attempt, child abduction, molestation, murder in one day

Hyderabad: Telangana’s integrated helpline service Dial-112 successfully prevented four major crimes — including a rape attempt, molestation, attempted murder, and child abduction — all within a single day on June 13.

The timely interventions, coordinated from the Telangana State Government Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) in Hyderabad, helped save lives and bring culprits to justice.

What is Dial-112?

Dial-112, launched as part of the Central Government’s Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), combines multiple emergency services — Police (100), Fire (101), Ambulance (108), Women Safety (181), Child Protection (1098), and Disaster Management (1077) — into a single helpline.

Since its implementation in Telangana, the system has proven to be a critical tool in preventing crimes and responding to distress calls.

Swift action in four separate cases

On June 13, four serious incidents were reported from various parts of Telangana. Each case received immediate attention, with Dial-112 operators relaying real-time information to local police stations, ensuring officers reached the scenes without delay.

Missing child traced in Narsingi

A young child was reported missing from the Labour Colony in Kokapet, under Narsingi Police Station limits. The child’s mother, Smt. Sunitha Dev, called Dial-112 for help.

Responding promptly, the team alerted local police units, who launched a coordinated search. The child was soon located and safely reunited with the family.

Rape attempt averted in Sangareddy

In a disturbing case, a woman in Sangareddy Town was targeted in a rape attempt by her own son-in-law. She managed to alert authorities through Dial-112.

Police officers arrived at the location in time to prevent the assault and detained the accused. A case was registered at the Sangareddy Town Police Station, and legal action is underway.

Molestation foiled in Amberpet

A woman in Amberpet reported that a man was secretly recording videos of her in a public place. She quickly contacted Dial-112, and the control room dispatched officers to the location.

The accused was caught in the act, detained on the spot, and handed over to the Amberpet Police Station for legal proceedings under molestation and privacy violation laws.

Attempted murder prevented in Nalgonda

In a violent domestic dispute in Kethepally, Nalgonda district, a man attempted to murder his father during a confrontation. A relative immediately dialed 112.

Police, acting on the alert, arrived at the scene before the situation escalated and apprehended the attacker. He was taken into custody and handed over to the Kethepally Police Station.

Public encouraged to use Dial-112

TGICCC Director VB Kamalasan Reddy praised the swift and professional handling of all four cases by Dial-112 call handlers and field police teams.

ā€œThe system worked exactly as intended. These incidents show the life-saving potential of a quick call and rapid deployment. Citizens must not hesitate to use Dial-112 during emergencies,ā€ said the Director.

The Telangana Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety through tech-enabled services and urged citizens to be aware of and utilize Dial-112 during any critical situation.
