Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will inaugurate the new Secretariat Complex, Dr Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, on 17 February, on the occasion of KCR's birthday.
The seven-story Secretariat building, which is located near Hussain Sagar Lake, is nearing completion. The building with an area of 7 lakh feet and modern amenities cost more than Rs. 600 crores to construct.
KCR laid the foundation stone for the new Secretariat complex on 27 June 2019. However, the works were delayed due to pending cases in the High Court and also the Covid-19 pandemic. After the court dismissed petitions by the Opposition parties and activists, the works were taken up in December 2020 and were completed within two years.
According to officials, approximately 90% of the work in all wings of the new building has been completed, and the remaining 10% of the work, including dome construction and some blocks, will be completed by the end of this month.
