Tension in Bachupally after HYDRAA demolishes boundary wall of Praneeth Antilia; 600 families hit
Hyderabad: Tensions gripped Bachupally after HYDRAA demolished the boundary wall of Praneeth Antilia.
People staged a relay protest demanding its reconstruction of the wall. In fact, the wall was demolished on June 24.
Over 600 families affected
Residents alleged that HYDRAA carried out the demolition without any prior notice, leaving over 600 families vulnerable to security threats. They claimed the agency removed the wall to facilitate road access for a few villa owners despite their repeated objections.
Wall blocked existing road: HYDRAA
HYDRAA officials defended their action, stating that Praneeth Antilia is not a recognized gated community and had illegally blocked a pre-existing public road by constructing high compound walls.
"After receiving multiple complaints, we inspected the site and removed the wall," an official said.
Thousands to benefit from demolition: Commissioner
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath has stated that Condition 7 of HMDA clearly states that Praneeth Antilia is not a gated community and therefore cannot construct a compound wall along the perimeter of its layout.
Despite this, the builders illegally constructed a wall and are now claiming it as their legal right. When HYDRAA demolished the wall to restore access for ten surrounding colonies and Mallampet villagers near Dundigal, Mallampet, and Bachupally, the layout residents alleged that the action was intended to benefit real estate interests.
However, officials clarified that removing the compound wall will ease traffic congestion significantly on the BachupallyāMallampet stretch, especially near the recently opened ORR exit, and benefit thousands of residents.
Authorities also noted that a few individuals from the layout are deliberately misleading the community to protect their vested interests, Ranganath said.
Residents vow to continue protest
Meanwhile, residents of Praneeth Antilia asserted that their protests would continue until HYDRAA rebuilds the wall to address their security concerns.
