TGSRTC introduces Rs 20 metro combi ticket for monthly pass holders in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has introduced a new metro combi ticket priced at Rs 20 per trip. This initiative is aimed at easing intra-city travel for existing bus pass holders by allowing access to metro deluxe buses within the Greater Hyderabad Region.
New Facility for Monthly Pass Holders
According to a press release from the TGSRTC Greater Hyderabad Region, the new combi ticket will be available to passengers who already hold a general bus ticket (GBT) metro express or ordinary monthly bus pass. It will allow them to travel in metro deluxe buses, which are generally not covered by their existing passes.
āThe initiative aims to provide seamless and hassle-free travel for passengers by extending access,ā stated the release. The ticket can be obtained directly from bus conductors on request and is valid for a single journey only.
The new ticket serves as an optional upgrade for those seeking more comfortable travel. This facility offers an upgraded travel option to existing monthly pass holders, allowing them to enjoy greater comfort for a nominal additional cost.
Background: TGSRTCās Recent Transit Measures
The TGSRTC has been exploring ways to improve public transport accessibility and convenience in Hyderabad, a city witnessing steady growth in commuter numbers. Metro deluxe buses are equipped with better seating and less crowding compared to ordinary services, often attracting working professionals and long-distance travelers.
Previously, monthly pass holders were restricted to certain categories of buses, limiting flexibility for those who wanted to shift to better service levels occasionally. The new Rs 20 add-on ticket offers a middle ground without requiring a complete change in the ticketing system or pricing structure.
Ticketing and Validity
Officials clarified that the combi ticket must be purchased during the journey itself. The combi ticket will be issued by bus conductors upon request and will be valid only for that particular journey.
This new offering is part of TGSRTCās ongoing efforts to streamline public transport services and offer practical choices to its passenger base.
