Hyderabad: A theft occurred at the upcoming police control room building in Banjara Hills. According to the police, 34 bundles of copper wires have gone missing from the work site.

"The missing property is approximately worth Rs. 10 lakhs. We are yet to ascertain the exact worth of the stolen property," said the SHO of Banjara Hills police station.

The theft was reported on 10 June. "We have registered a case under Section 380 of the IPC. We are investigating to find out the people behind the theft," the SHO added.

Section 380 of the IPC deals with theft in dwelling, house, etc. and states that whoever commits theft in any building, tent, or vessel, which is used for human dwelling or used for the custody of property shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to a fine. It's a cognizable, non-bailable offence and the accused will be tried by the respective magistrate.

The SHO also said that the upcoming police control room where the theft happened has been under construction for almost three years.
