Hyderabad: Brace up for the rain dance as the monsoon finally arrived in Hyderabad. Super rains lashed the city on the midnight of 14 June.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted that monsoons will arrive in Telangana on June 10. But many parts of the state including Hyderabad did not receive any rain till yesterday.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), the Cherlapally Health Care center in Kapra received the highest rainfall of 89.8 mm in the GHMC area in the last 24 hours. Macha Bolarum in Alwal and South Hasthinapuram in Hayathnagar received 56 mm and 43 mm rainfall respectively. Kapra, Alwal, Qutballapur, Saroornagar, LB Nagar, and Hayathnagar are the areas that benefitted the most from Tuesday's early morning showers.

Jainoor in Komaram Bheem Asifabad recorded the state's highest rainfall of 73 mm. Medak, Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Khammam, Kamareddy, and Sangareddy also received light to moderate rainfall.



Meanwhile, IMD Hyderabad issued a yellow alert, warning of heavy rainfall in districts of the state including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayshankar Bhupalapally, Suryapet, Khammam, Gadwal, etc. from 13 June to 16 June.

According to the TSDPS weather forecast for the next two days, the southwest monsoons are predicted to cover the entire state. SkyMet Weather's Mahesh Palawat said monsoon will hit most parts of Telangana in the next 48 hours. He said many areas like north Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have also seen a delay in monsoon but will witness the first showers in the next two days.
