Hyderabad: Telangana government has announced an increase in the stitching charges for school uniforms from Rs.50 to Rs.75 per pair. This decision is aimed at benefiting women's self-help groups (SHGs) in both rural and urban areas across the State.
In an official order issued on Friday, the government directed District Collectors and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner to assign the task of stitching uniforms for all residential schools, welfare hostels, and other institutions providing uniforms to children, to these women SHGs.
The decision follows a request made by women SHG members during Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddyās visit to the Mahalaxmi Mahila Shakthi meeting at Parade Grounds on March 12.
The SHG women had appealed to the Chief Minister to increase the stitching charges to help improve their earnings.
Responding to the request, the government increased the charges from Rs.50 to Rs.75 per pair. The new rates will apply to departments and societies currently paying Rs.50 per pair and will be effective from the academic year 2024-25.
