Tollywood filmmaker Srinu Vaitla loses crores in land investment fraud; lodges complaint

Director Srinu Vaitla

Hyderabad: Telugu film director Vaitla Srinivasa Rao, aka Srinu Vaitla, filed a complaint with the Central Crime Station (CCS) police after he was allegedly cheated in a land investment fraud.

Fraud under the guise of lucrative land investment

Lured by promises of high returns, the director, along with his niece Swetha, planned to invest in land in 2019. He said a group of individuals approached them, claiming to be selling land parcels in the Kadmoor area of Vikarabad district.

Fake documents and false claims

The accused allegedly presented forged documents and convinced the victims that the land deal was legitimate. Trusting the representations, Srinu Vaitla and his niece proceeded with the purchase, paid the agreed amount, and completed the sale deed registrations.

Truth emerges after purchase

However, it was later discovered that the land did not belong to the sellers and had been fraudulently sold through forged documents. The victims claim they were deceived in a well-planned conspiracy.

Loss estimated at ₹7.2 crore

The director stated that the current market value of the disputed land is around ₹7.2 crore. He accused the main conspirators of orchestrating the scam and cheating them under the pretext of a genuine transaction.

Police investigation underway

Based on the complaint, Hyderabad CCS police have initiated a probe into the case. Further investigation is underway to identify the extent of the fraud and take action against those involved.
