Traffic issues in Hyderabad’s IT corridor: TGSRTC to launch 275 electric buses

Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is set to further expand its services in the IT corridor of Hyderabad to meet the growing commuting needs of tech professionals.

Managing Director VC Sajjanar announced that, in addition to the 200 electric buses already plying, another 275 electric buses will soon be added to the fleet.

Joint initiative with industry bodies

The announcement came during a meeting jointly organised by TGSRTC, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and the Telangana Facility Management Council (TFMC).

The meeting, held at Tech Mahindra campus in Hitec City on Monday evening, brought together representatives from several IT companies.

Buses on hire for IT Companies

Sajjanar said that TGSRTC is aligning its services with the travel needs of software employees.

To ensure safer and more convenient transport, IT companies will have the option to hire electric and Metro Deluxe buses from TSRTC.

He urged companies to make use of this facility for the benefit of their workforce.

Reducing traffic and protecting environment

Pointing out that excessive use of private vehicles is worsening traffic congestion in the IT corridor, Sajjanar emphasised that public transport is the only sustainable solution. He added that increased reliance on buses would not only ease traffic but also help in protecting the environment.

Appeal to IT firms

The TGSRTC MD appealed to IT companies to encourage employees to adopt public transport. He suggested that firms could also introduce incentives for employees who regularly use RTC services.

IT Industry suggestions considered

TGSRTC officials made a presentation on the services already being offered in the corridor. Several IT company representatives gave suggestions and feedback on improving facilities. Officials assured that these inputs would be taken into consideration.
