Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is set to inaugurate the newly constructed P Janardhan Reddy (PJR) multi-level flyover on Saturday.

This flyover, built from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Kondapur, is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, particularly at the busy Gachibowli Junction—an infrastructural boost to Hyderabad’s IT corridor.

Constructed under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) for Rs 182.72 crore, the flyover spans 1.2 kilometres in length and 24 metres in width, accommodating six lanes.

It is unique for being built as a third-level structure above two existing flyovers in the area. The first level houses the Gachibowli Junction flyover, the second is the Shilpa Layout Phase-1 flyover, and the new Phase-2 flyover forms the third level.

Major benefits to commuters

With its inauguration, motorists travelling from ORR towards Kondapur, Hafeezpet, Hitec City and the Financial District will experience smoother connectivity and reduced travel time.

The flyover is expected to ease severe traffic bottlenecks at Gachibowli Junction, helping thousands of daily commuters reach their destinations without delays.

Part of larger SRDP vision

This project marks the 23rd flyover completed under SRDP. Of the 42 projects sanctioned, 37 works have been completed so far.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has instructed officials to expedite the remaining works, including the Falaknuma and Shastripuram railway overbridges, aiming for their completion by August-end, which would take the total completed projects to 39.

H City Mission for comprehensive development

As part of its commitment to develop Hyderabad into a global city, the government has approved Rs 7,032 crore for 58 major infrastructure projects.

These include 28 flyovers, 13 underpasses, four railway overbridges, three railway underbridges and 10 road widening works. Many of these projects have completed the tender process and are in the agreement stage, with works expected to begin shortly.

The opening of the PJR flyover is seen as a significant milestone in Hyderabad’s urban development journey, ensuring faster, safer, and hassle-free travel for residents and strengthening the city’s infrastructure backbone, GHMC officials said.
