Triple suicide in Hyderabad: Amberpet businessman, wife and son found dead; financial burden suspected

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, three members of a family allegedly died by suicide at their residence in Amberpet on Tuesday, reportedly due to mounting financial distress.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Raj (55), his wife Madhavi (50) and their son Shashank (24). Police suspect that financial losses in business dealings may have driven the family to take the extreme step.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Suicide note indicates financial burden, say cops

According to a preliminary investigation, Ram Raj was running a local hotel business in Amberpet and also operated a biryani centre in Mallapally. Officials believe that severe financial setbacks and mounting debts may have pushed the family into distress.

Police said a suicide note was recovered from the house, in which the family reportedly mentioned unbearable financial burden as the reason for their decision.

Sequence of events

According to police, Ram Raj sent a WhatsApp message at around 3:15 am to his friend Ravi allegedly about the extreme steps they are going to take. Alarmed by the message, Ravi rushed to Ram Raj’s residence, where he found Ram Raj and Madhavi hanging.

He immediately dialed 100, following which police teams and a Clues Team reached the spot and began an investigation.

Authorities suspect that Madhavi may have died first, possibly due to suffocation with a pillow, though this angle is being verified. Ram Raj allegedly hanged himself thereafter. Their son Shashank is believed to have slit his wrist before hanging himself.

The bodies have been shifted to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Police probe multiple angles

Secunderabad Zone Additional DCP Narsaiah said police are probing all possible angles, including financial liabilities and whether any creditors had threatened the family.

“We are examining whether the family took this step out of fear of debts or external pressure. All aspects are under investigation,” he said.

Further details are awaited pending forensic analysis and post-mortem reports.
