TS Narcotics Wing summons Navdeep for questioning in drugs case

Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Navdeep has been summoned for questioning on September 23 by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) for allegedly using narcotics and other banned substances. As per the notice issued to Navdeep, it is mentioned that ‘there are reasonable grounds to question him to ascertain facts and circumstances’, in relation to the present investigation.

Earlier in the case, film financier K Venkataratna Reddy and another individual, Kapa Bhaskar Balaji, were arrested by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TS NAB) police. In a chain of revelations, police arrested three Nigerians; the son of former Mahbubnagar MP Vithal Rao Devarakonda Suresh Rao; film director Anugu Sushanth Reddy; and Ramchand who has close ties to the film industry.

The police confiscated eight grams of cocaine, 50 grams of MDMA, ecstasy pills, cars, and cell phones with an estimated value of Rs 10 lakhs. The bank account of Venkataratna Reddy, holding Rs 5.5 crores, was also frozen as part of the investigation.

According to the director of TS NAB, CV Anand, celebrities from the film industry, including actor Navdeep and Shadow film producer Ravi Uppalapati are involved in the drugs case. The investigation discovered that actor Navdeep had been obtaining drugs.

Navdeep has been asked to come to the office of DCP, Central Zone in Hyderabad, at 11 am on September 23.

According to the officials, Navdeep is directed to comply with all and/or the following directions.

1. He will not commit any offence in future.

2. He will not tamper with the evidence in the case in any manner whatsoever.

3. He will not make any threat, inducement, or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case so as to dissuade him from disclosing such facts to the court or to a police officer.

4. He will appear before the court as and when required/directed.

5. He will join the investigation of the case as and when required and will cooperate in the investigation.

6. He will disclose all the facts truthfully without concealing any part relevant to the purpose of the investigation.

7. He will produce relevant documents/material required for the investigation.

8. He will render cooperation/assistance in the apprehension of the accomplice(s).

9. He will not allow in any manner the destruction of any evidence relevant to the purpose of the investigation/trial of the case.
