TRSTC’s Gamyam app tracks buses in real-time, highlights women’s safety

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on Saturday launched a new bus tracking app called ‘TSRTC Gamyam’. The app is designed to make it easier for passengers to track the arrival and departure of TSRTC buses across Telangana and nearby states.

Speaking at the occasion, TSRTC managing director VC Sajjanar said, “The TSRTC has made many changes to improve its public transport system. We have launched a new app called ‘Gamyam’ that allows passengers to track the location of TSRTC buses in real-time and know the expected time of arrival (ETA) of buses. The app also provides information on the nearest bus stops. We plan to connect the tracking facility to all our services by October.”

“We have also made 776 new buses with the latest features available to the passengers. These buses are equipped with GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, and panic buttons. The buses also have a plug-in facility for women passengers, which allows them to request a bus to stop anywhere, even if there is no bus stop nearby.”

The MD said that TSRTC is committed to providing safe and reliable transportation for all passengers. Gamyam app and the new buses are just two examples of the corporation’s efforts to keep passengers safe and informed.

The app provides real-time tracking of Pushpak AC airport buses and all express and above special type bus services of TSRTC with information on ETA at the boarding stage and selected destination to plan your travel schedule ahead of time. It also tracks reservation buses based on Service No. provided in the reservation ticket. It has updated information on schedules and bus routes.

The app also has a number of other features designed to improve the experience of travelling in buses by providing accurate information on bus arrival at the bus stop nearest to home, office, shopping, functions or any other location. It also provides better coordination for travel plans by connecting you to airports or railway stations in the search.

Major features of the TSRTC Gamyam app include:

- Provides tracking of buses in Hyderabad city and district services separately.

- Provides ETA for your origin and destination points.

- Searches for bus services between and to places/stages for special services like Garuda Plus, Rajadhani, Super Luxury, Deluxe and Express buses in districts.

- Searches for bus services between from and to places/stages for special services like Pushpak (airport services), Metro Luxury, Metro Deluxe and Metro Express buses in Hyderabad city.

- Searches for Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad Electric buses (Pushpak) which run 24/7 for the convenience of passengers.

- Searches by bus number, when your near and dear ones are travelling by a particular bus to pick up them in time.

- Searches by route name/number, when you want to see all the active trips on the route.

- Shows your current location and the nearest bus stop to plan your trip efficiently.

- Shows the current active trips which are arriving at the selected bus stop with ETA and also the live location of the bus on the map.

- Provides emergency services from TSRTC like the women’s helpline, and reports breakdowns and accidents, if any.

‘Plug a Bus’ feature for women’s safety

The TSRTC included a feature in the Gamyam app called ‘Plug a Bus’ to help women passengers travel safely at night. This feature allows women to request a bus to stop anywhere, even if there is no bus stop nearby. To use the feature, women simply need to enter their details in the app and a green light will appear on their phone. When they show the light to the bus driver, the bus will stop and pick them up.

The ‘Plug a Bus’ feature is available from 7 pm to 6 am. It is a valuable safety feature for women who travel at night in areas where there are no bus stops.

The Gayam app also has a SOS button that can be used to contact the TSRTC call centre in an emergency. The app is also integrated with Dial 100 and 108, so passengers can report bus breakdowns, medical emergencies, and road accidents directly to the police.
