TSRTC: 6000 special buses for festival season from October 1 to 15

Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is gearing up to operate as many as 6,000 special buses to facilitate the movement of people travelling to their hometowns for Bathukamma and Dasara festivals from October 1 to 15.

TSRTC managing director VC Sajjanar had a virtual meeting with his field-level officials on special buses for Dasara festivals and facilities to be provided to passengers in congested areas.

Buses to go through Gachibowli and ORR

Sajjanar said that the special buses would be operated from MGBS, JBS, LBNagar, Uppal, Aramghar, SantoshNagar, KPHB and other parts of Hyderabad. For the convenience of IT Corridor employees, the corporation has planned to run buses to Vijayawada, Bangalore and other places via Gachibowli ORR, he added.

The TSRTC MD said that compared to the last Dasara, this time there is a possibility of more traffic due to the implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme. He asked the employees to take measures so that there are no problems with the movement of passengers like in the past. Special buses should be made available depending on the rush.

Special buses

The TSRTC is offering advance reservation facilities for all the special buses during the festive season. The special buses would run from Hyderabad and Secunderabad to various destinations within the State, as well as to neighbouring states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra, he said.

ā€œAs the Dasara festival is on October 12, there is a chance that there will be more traffic on the 9, 10 and 11, and more special buses should be run according to the needs of those days. Officials should coordinate with the NHAI officials and take steps to allocate special lanes for RTC buses at the toll plazas,ā€ Sajjanar said.

Referring to the arrangements, the TSRTC MD has asked the officials concerned to set up a public address system along with tents, seats, drinking water and other infrastructures for the convenience of travellers, especially in congested areas such as LB Nagar, Uppal, Aranghar, KPHB and Santosh Nagar, etc. ā€œFor this Dussehra, we want to use pollution-free new electric super luxury buses on Karimnagar and Nizamabad routes,ā€ he said.

A busy 2024 Dussehra

Sajjanar also said that compared to the last Dussehra, this time there are 11 auspicious muhurthams in the month of October along with the implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme. The organisation has planned in advance to run less crowded buses. ā€œThis year, we are planning to run as many as 6,000 special buses for Bathukamma and Dussehra festivals. I appeal to all the passengers to make use of the special buses to their destinations safely,ā€ he said.

The TSRTC MD said that the corporation is taking all measures aimed at bringing the passengers to their destinations safely in coordination with the police, transport and municipal authorities. He advised the passengers to make advance reservations for these TSRTC services on the official website of the organisation.
