Hyderabad: Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) on Friday issued instructions to all its functional heads, chief general managers, superintending engineers, and other officials regarding the notices of strike served by two trade unionsā€”Telangana Vidyut Employeeā€™s Union and ITEHAD Electricity Contract Employees Union.

The trade unions requested the implementation of revised pay scales and other demands. However, in the exercise of its powers under the Telangana Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1971, the TSSPDCL has prohibited any strikes in all services under Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited and the two distribution companiesā€”TSNPDCL and TSSPDCLā€”for a period of six months.

Further, the TSSPDCL has signed a Memorandum of Settlement. In the memorandum, chairman and managing director G. Raghuma Reddy prohibited any employee from proceeding on strike or instigating others to do so. The act of striking in violation of the settlement will be viewed seriously, and such strikes will be considered illegal and shall be terminated from their services, he said.

The notice emphasised the importance of uninterrupted power supply during the summer season and urged employees to discharge their duties with utmost commitment and efficiency.
