Two gangs black marketing Amphotericin-B injections busted; 9 arrested
The Hyderabad police on Thursday busted two gangs involved in the illegal sale of Amphotericin-B injections used in the treatment of black fungus and arrested nine persons. The police seized 28 injections from them.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police on Thursday busted two gangs involved in the illegal sale of Amphotericin-B injections used in the treatment of black fungus and arrested nine persons. The police seized 28 injections from them.
The sleuths of the commissioner's task force, west zone, laid a trap and arrested two gangs in the limits of SR Nagar and Banjara Hills police stations. They were illegally procuring and selling Amphotericin-B injections (Ambilon: Rs.7,858; Fungilip: Rs. 7,400) in the black market for Rs. 35,000 and Rs. 50,000.
Of the five members involved in the first gang, three were medical representative - G. Srikanth (39) and K. Shashi Kumar (33) of MSN labs and R. Niranjan (36) of Brinton Pharmaceuticals. The other two were B. Venkata Suresh (33) and Mohd. Aleemuddin (38). Another accused, Vinod of Guntur, is absconding. The gang was illegally procuring Amphotericin-B injections and selling them at higher rates in the black market.
On Thursday, the west zone task force team laid a trap near Yellamma Temple in Balkampet, SR Nagar, Hyderabad, and apprehended the five men. They seized 13 Amphotericin-B injections (Ambilon) from them.
Meanwhile, members of the second gang included an OT technician, T. Balaswamy (31); a medical agency employee, Mohd. Abdul Khadeer (33); and a medical distributor, B. Anvesh Kumar Reddy (33). The other member of the four-member gang was B. Ranjith (39), an Amazon seller. On Thursday, the west zone task force laid a trap at Suma Enterprises in Jubilee Hills and apprehended the four. They also seized 15 Amphotericin-B injections (Fungilip) from them.
