Two groups clash outside Jubilee Hills pub; son of former AP DGP injured in assault

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police registered two cases in a fight between two groups where David Sawang, son of former DGP (Director General of Police) of Andhra Pradesh, Gautam Sawang, was assaulted and injured.

According to the police, on Wednesday night, a clash was reportedly witnessed between two groups at Zero40 Brewing Pub on Road No 10 in Jubilee Hills. The groups allegedly started fighting during a live concert where MA Sammadh — a friend of David Sawang — performed with his band. David was invited to the show by Sammadh.

A person named Mayur, who also performed live during the concert, invited another key individual named Siddharth and his friends to the show. Mayur is a common friend of David Sawang and Siddharth.

“When Siddharth tried to record a video of the live performance by Mayur, Sammad tried to stop him. They also warned each other after getting down from the stage,” said the police.

The fight started when Siddharth attacked David. Photos of the fight that went viral on social media showed the injuries on the eyes and hands of the youth.

Sammad, along with his friends, David Sawang, Yousuf Hayat, Sidharth Negi, and Sana Fatima, attended a party at the pub. As the event concluded around 11:30 pm they were leaving the premises when they were suddenly ambushed by a group of six individuals.

Both groups filed cases against each other

After the fight, Sammadh filed a police complaint against Siddharth, and Siddharth also filed a complaint against David and his friends.

According to the complaint filed by MA Sammadh, six persons — Sidharth Manghnani, Naveed, Areeb, Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, Ramakrishna Dutt and one unknown person — assaulted him, his friend, David Sawang and another friend Sidharth Negi, outside Zero40 Brewery.

“These attackers used wrenches, knuckle dusters, and taser guns to assault. As a result, David Sawang sustained severe injuries to his face and chin, including a broken tooth, resulting in visible facial injuries. Following the attack, the assailants even threatened them via Instagram messages, stating, ‘You can’t mess with Africans; Africans are not Indians’,” said the complainant.

The complainant said they attempted to strangle David Sawang and made explicit threats to his life. During the assault, they forcibly took his friend Sana’s mobile phone, deleted a video, and subjected her to molestation. Furthermore, they warned them that they would come to their residences and attack them.
