UITP Awards: Hyderabad’s metro’s Elevating Multimodal Transit Experience’ shortlisted for finals

Hyderabad: L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited's (LTMRHL’s) nomination has been shortlisted for finals by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) Awards-2023.

LTMRHL had submitted a nomination under the multimodal integration category for its impactful policy and initiative. `Elevating Multimodal Transit Experience in Hyderabad’ has now been shortlisted for finals.

The announcement was made during the UITP Global Public Transport Summit held from June 4 to June 7 in Barcelona, Spain.

Among a competitive pool of 500 nominations, LTMRHL's submission stood out in the multimodal integration category for its impactful policy and initiative, which greatly enhanced multimodal integration at the urban transport system level. These efforts have resulted in improved access to mobility transport solutions for passengers, catering to their evolving needs.

Background:

Hyderabad Metro Rail is a rapid transit system serving the city of Hyderabad. It is operated by L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (LTMRHL), one of India's largest engineering and construction companies.

Construction of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project began in 2012, and the system gradually started operations on various lines starting in November 2017. The metro network in Hyderabad is designed to connect major residential and commercial areas, IT hubs, educational institutions, and other key destinations across the city.

The trains operate on standard gauge tracks and are equipped with advanced amenities to provide passengers with a comfortable and convenient commuting experience.
