Unable to discuss marriage proposal, Hyderabad techie jumps from Durgam Cheruvu, dies

Hyderabad: Under pressure for marriage, a 25-year-old techie ended his life by jumping into Durgam Cheruvu Lake.

Identified as Balaji from Musheerabad, he was working in a software company at Madhapur Knowledge City.

On July 24, Balaji went to work as usual but did not return home by midnight.

His phone was also coming switched off. His family checked with friends but his whereabouts were unknown. Later family filed a missing person report at the Rayadurgam police station.

After an investigation, police learned that he had left the office at 8:30 PM on July 24. CCTV footage revealed that Balaji had gone to Durgam Cheruvu Lake.

On Friday evening, Balaji's body was fished out from the lake. Police identified him from his ID card. It was discovered that Balaji had been in a relationship with a woman for some time.

Preliminary investigation suggested that Balaji ended life due to pressure from the woman to get married, which he was unable to discuss with his family.

The body was shifted to Osmania Hospital for a postmortem. A case has been registered, and the Raidurgam police are investigating.
