Unsafe to consume’: Telangana SFL detects worms in Cadbury Roasted Almond Chocolate

Hyderabad: Telangana State Food Laboratory (SFL) has declared Cadbury Chocolate (Roasted Almond) "unsafe to consume" following the discovery of white worms and webs.

The alarming findings, as per the analytical report dated February 27, 2024, have ignited concerns about the safety of commonly consumed FMCG products.

Robin Zaccheus, who filed the complaint while speaking to NewsMeter expressed concern about the safety of widely consumed FMCG products, stating, "It is perhaps high time that FMCG companies are made accountable and penalized for supplying unsafe food that our children consume very often!"

The report detailed that two Cadbury chocolates purchased at Ratnadeep Retail in Hyderabad contained white worms and webs, describing the physical appearance as "Brown color chocolate with white worms and with webs."

Calling for accountability, Robin Zaccheus directed his plea to Mansukh Mandviya, saying, "Dear @mansukhmandviya Ji, my sincere appeal to you! Please do not let these companies make a mockery of the system. These violations must be strictly punished, and licenses should be canceled."

The report has implicated the involved companies, including MDLZ, Dairy Milk India, and Ratnadeep Retail. It also raised questions about the quality control measures in place for popular consumer products, emphasizing the need for increased scrutiny.

"I urge people to be cautious while consuming these chocolates, especially when we give it to our innocent children," warned Robin about the potential risks associated with the specific Cadbury chocolates.

The incident has sparked a demand for swift and decisive action to maintain the integrity of the food safety system.

Consumers are calling for accountability from the government and regulatory bodies, and are awaiting a response of strict actions against those responsible for compromising the safety of widely consumed food products.
