Hyderabad: Four more students at the University of Hyderabad have tested positive for Covid-19.
With this, the tally of infected students on the campus has reached 17. Three students have recovered from the infection.
Meanwhile, given the increasing Covid cases on the campus, the Dean Students' Welfare (DSW) on January 12 issued a notification appealing to the students to consider continuing online classes from home. "In view of the rapid increase in the number of Covid cases in our university campus, particularly from the students' community, I sincerely appeal all the students attending online classes to consider vacating hostels from where they are staying and proceed to their native place. They may come back after the situation gets improved in which case, the university will notify accordingly," read the DSW notification.
Telangana reported 2,319 new COVID-19 cases on January 12, pushing the cumulative caseload to 7,00,094. This is 20% more than the number of cases reported on January 11.The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 18,339.
Two COVID-19 death were reported in the last 24 hours in the state.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported the highest number of cases (1,275) in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri (234), Rangareddy (201), and Sangareddy (67).
