Hyderabad: With excitement building ahead of global football icon Lionel Messi’s friendly match scheduled for December 13 at Uppal Stadium, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Sunday inspected the arrangements and assured that elaborate security and comprehensive facilities are being put in place for the mega sporting spectacle.
Nationwide influx of football lovers expected
Speaking to the media after reviewing the preparations, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Lionel Messi enjoys unmatched global popularity, and his presence in Hyderabad has created unprecedented excitement among football enthusiasts.
He noted that thousands of fans from across the country are expected to descend on the city to witness the match.
He added that the festive atmosphere of the Telangana Rising Global Summit has already begun across the State, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy actively touring districts as part of the outreach programme.
Fool-proof security measures under personal supervision
Emphasising the special security arrangements required due to Messi’s international stature, Bhatti Vikramarka said stringent and fool-proof security measures are being implemented for the friendly match involving Team Messi and the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s team.
“The security arrangements are being personally reviewed to ensure zero lapses,” he asserted.
Messi’s interest adds global spotlight to Telangana
The Deputy Chief Minister revealed that Lionel Messi has expressed keen interest in taking part in the Telangana Rising celebrations, bringing global attention to the State’s flagship initiative.
Given the expected massive turnout, he urged spectators to arrive at the stadium well ahead of the scheduled time, cooperate with security personnel and avoid last-minute congestion.
All facilities in place for spectators
Bhatti Vikramarka said that all essential facilities for football fans, including seating, drinking water, medical services and crowd regulation systems, have been arranged at Uppal Stadium.
With the Global Summit in the backdrop, several global leaders, CEOs and heads of major organisations are also expected to be present in Hyderabad during the same period.
Police and HCA closely monitoring arrangements
He stated that the Rachakonda and Hyderabad Police Commissioners are directly supervising the security arrangements. Officials from the police department and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) briefed him on the ongoing preparations and crowd management plans.
VIP routes, entry gates and transport reviewed
During the inspection, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed designated routes for Messi’s movement, security corridors for the Chief Minister, ministers and other VVIPs, estimated spectator turnout, number and distribution of entry and exit gates, and parking facilities.
Metro Rail and RTC transport support for fans
He directed officials to ensure smooth traffic flow, orderly movement of crowds and zero inconvenience to the public.
Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Additional DGP Vijay Kumar, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu, Rohan Reddy, Shiva Sain Reddy, along with senior officials from various departments, accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the inspection.
