Hyderabad: A youth was arrested for torching the bike of an employee of the state police at Himayath Nagar of Narayanaguda police limits claiming to be upset with the current lockdown in the state to combat the ongoing pandemic.
Police said that Mohd Abid was angry with the bike's owner Mohd Sikinder, who worked as a driver in the Intelligence Wing of the Telangana police department. The duo had a public argument about Abid creating nuisance in the street. Abid had allegedly blamed Sikinder and the entire police department for the lockdown.
On 21 May, Sikinder returned home from work and parked his bike outside the house. At midnight, when he went out to check on some noise he found his bike on fire. The bike burned down completely despite his efforts to douse the flames. Sikinder, in his complaint, stated that Abid could have done out of a grudge. Abid had other cases against him in the past which strengthened the suspicion.
Based on the clues from the scene, the police nabbed Abid. Upon questioning, he admitted to having torched the bike, as he was upset with the police department enforcing the lockdown strictly. Inquiries also revealed that Abid was suffering from mental health issues and was earlier accused of harassing women in the colony.
