Vavilala Chidvilas from Telangana tops JEE-Advanced, 6 of top 10 rankers from IIT-Hyderabad zone

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy bagged the top rank in the IIT entrance exam, JEE-Advanced 2023, which was declared by IIT-Guwahati on Sunday. With an impressive score of 341 out of 360 marks, Reddy secured the first position nationwide.

The IIT-Hyderabad zone showcased its dominance in the results, with six out of the top ten rankers hailing from this region. Among the women candidates, Nayakanti Naga Bhavya Sree stood out as the topper, securing the 56th rank.

A total of 43,773 candidates qualified out of the 1,80,372 students who appeared for the JEE-Advanced exam. The IIT-Hyderabad zone had the highest number of qualified candidates, with 10,432 students making the cut.

The breakdown of the top 500 ranks across different zones is as follows:

IIT Hyderabad: 174

Delhi: 120

Bombay: 100

Roorkee: 46

Kharagpur: 37

Kanpur: 16

Guwahati: 4

Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy, the top scorer, expressed his intention to pursue BTech in Computer Science Engineering at IIT-Bombay. His performance positioned him as a leading candidate among aspiring engineering students.

With the declaration of results, qualified candidates must now participate in the counselling conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutes. A total of 118 institutes are part of the counselling process conducted by JoSAA.

The JEE Advanced 2023 exam was conducted on June 4. Candidate response sheets were made available on June 9, and the provisional answer key was released on June 11. Students had the opportunity to raise objections until 5 pm on June 12.
