Vehicle owners with modified silencer will be booked: Hyderabad police
The Traffic Police started a special drive on Saturday where they began booking cases on vehicles causing noise pollution by modifying company fitted silencers. Around 200 violators who modified the silencers of their vehicles and caused noise pollution were counseled.

Hyderabad: The Traffic Police started a special drive on Saturday where they began booking cases on vehicles causing noise pollution by modifying company fitted silencers. Around 200 violators who modified the silencers of their vehicles and caused noise pollution were counseled.
The Additional Commissioner of traffic police said that two-wheeler drivers are removing company fitted silencers and fixing silencers that are emitting more noise, causing a lot of irritation and inconvenience to the public staying near schools, hospitals, and to the elderly people.
The sound level above 65 decibels is injurious to health and a sound level above 75 decibels causes serious health problems such as hypertension, anxiety and cardiovascular diseases and so on. He said that as per Section 190 of the MVAct-1988 any person who endangers road safety and causes noise and air pollution, are be punishable under the law.
He said that notices will be issued to the automobile shops and mechanics to stop modified silences and not fix tampered silencers to the vehicles
In January 2021, about 1,134 cases were booked against people for modifying company fitted silencers and causing noise pollution.
