`Venki'slogics’: Telangana SI Venkatesh doubles up as Instagram tutor to help youngsters crack police exams

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old Reserve Sub-Inspector from Telangana has become a social media sensation for helping youth to crack competitive exams and join the police force.

Venkatesh Mattaparthi puts up informative reels on his Instagram page `venki'slogics’ to guide youngsters about their careers.

But behind his confident screen presence lies a story of determination, sacrifice, and self-belief.

“I once worked as a software engineer and was preparing to write the GRE to study abroad. My father, Surya Kumar, serves as an ASI at Gopalpuram Traffic. Watching him at work deeply inspired me," said Venkatesh.

Pursuing higher studies overseas meant spending nearly ₹40 lakh — a heavy financial burden for his family in those days. “I was good at basketball and physically active, so I thought, why not use my skills and ease my father’s load by aiming for a police career?” he says.

In 2018, the Telangana State Recruitment Board announced new notifications. Venkatesh began preparing on his own — without coaching or mentors — and by 2020, his hard work paid off. Today, he serves at the headquarters, taking up responsibilities like VIP escort duties, traffic and intelligence operations, bundobust arrangements, and assembly deployments.

Though his work is demanding, Venkatesh continues to nurture his passion for learning and teaching. After appearing for the Group-1 exams and narrowly missing the target score of 450, he was briefly disappointed. “For a week, I felt low seeing my friends succeed. But then I realized — instead of feeling dejected, I could help others learn from my mistakes. In fact, my sister and friends help me in my social media journey," he says.

That’s how his Instagram journey began. What started as simple educational videos soon turned into a platform inspiring thousands of young aspirants. “I create, shoot, and edit all my reels by myself. Even during work breaks, I edit videos so I can post consistently,” he says with a smile.

Beyond his uniform, Venkatesh also harbors a creative side. He loves acting and even played a small role in veteran actor Rajendra Prasad’s film Krishna Raama. “Acting gives me joy, but clearing Group-1 remains my main goal,” he says firmly.

Despite facing occasional criticism from within the force, he remains undeterred. “A few followers pass negative comments, but most appreciate my work and message. That encouragement keeps me going. The best part is that many of my followers have got jobs through my educational reels,” he says.

From a software engineer’s desk to the state police headquarters — and now to the mobile screens of thousands — SI Venkatesh Mattaparthy’s story proves that with passion and persistence, one can serve, inspire, and shine — both in uniform and on camera.
