Telangana: Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali was caught on camera losing his cool when he was not handed a bouquet immediately when he asked for one. Angered by this, he was seen raising his hand on his gunman (security personnel) during a government programme in Hyderabad.

In a video which went viral on Friday, the minister was seen asking his security officer to give him a bouquet to wish the minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav on his birthday. When the gunman couldn’t give the bouquet immediately, the minister slapped him in the face. The gunman immediately arranged a bouquet and a shawl handed it to the minister.

The incident happened when Ali along with Srinivas Yadav were at a government school for the inaugural ceremony of the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme for schoolchildren.

When NewsMeter tried to reach his office for a statement/clarification on the incident, they refused to answer.

In the evening, a complaint was filed by former APVCC Chairman and former AICC Member, Bakka Judson in SR nagar police station on Home Minister Mehmood Ali for allegedly slapping a gunman during an event celebrating Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav's birthday in Ameerpet.

This is not the first time that the home minister waded into a controversy. Earlier in June, the minister made remarks on women wearing short dresses. Reacting to a media query that a city-based college purportedly told some girl students appearing for intermediate supplementary exams to remove their burqa before entering the examination hall, Ali said there were no curbs on wearing them.

“Maybe someone made a mistake. Maybe it was the headmaster or the principal. But we have a secular policy. People can wear whatever dress they want to wear. But if they dress in European style, it may not be correct. ‘Auratein khaas taur se, kam kapde pehnene se pareshaani hoti hai. Zyada kapde pahene se logon ko sukun hota hai’ (It might create a problem for women to wear fewer clothes, but if they are fully dressed people will not have any issue),” Ali had reportedly said.
