In a tragic incident, apprentice jockey Jeetendra Singh died of a cardiac arrest following his fall in the fourth race at Malakpet race course, Hyderabad on 3rd January.

Hyderabad: In a freak mishap, a jockey working at the Malakpet Race Court in Hyderabad died after falling down from a horse, during a race on Sunday. The jockey identified as Jitender Singh belongs to Rajasthan and has been associated with the Race Court for the past few months.

According to sources, Jitender Singh was participating in the fourth race scheduled for the day. While taking in the race for the Osman Sagar plate division-2, Jitender fell off his horse and landed on the field.

The rescue teams rushed him to Yashoda Hospital at Malakpet. However, he has declared brought dead at the hospital.

It is suspected that he suffered a cardiac arrest during the fall and died eventually.

"The jockey was shifted to Yashoda hospital after the fall, where he was declared dead. The body has been shifted to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem" an official with Malakpet race course told NewsMeter. The horse belongs to trainer Sateesh while Jeetendra Singh was its Jockey.

Police of Chaderghat police station under whose jurisdiction falls the race course, shifted the body for a postmortem examination and started a probe.
