Viral Image: Probe into Madhapur cop in birthday bash on Durgam Cheruvu Bridge

Hyderabad: After a photo showing Madhapur inspector G Mallesh celebrating a birthday along with others by cutting a cake on the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge has gone viral, the DCP of Madhapur Dr Vineeth has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter and said action will be taken based on the findings of the report.

The post on social media drew the attention of the netizens who questioned if the police are above the law since birthday celebrations on the bridge are prohibited.

Meanwhile, the Madhapur inspector stated that the photo of the birthday celebrations is not on the main road of the cable bridge but on the footpath.

In April, the Cyberabad Traffic team introduced a law restricting people from taking selfies and holding birthday celebrations on the bridge. If anyone is caught obstructing traffic on the bridge, traffic cops can fine the person up to Rs 1,000.

This came after a youth died when a speeding car rammed him while he and his friend were taking a selfie. It is found that many commuters park their vehicles to take selfies on the Durgam Cheruvu Cable bridge leading to traffic obstructions.
