Waking up to NMC notice, CM Revanth orders revamp of medical colleges

Hyderabad: Waking up to the National Medical Council (NMC’s) show-cause notice, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has asked officials to prepare an action plan to address deficiencies and provide necessary facilities to 34 medical colleges.

The Chief Minister also ordered the officials to constitute an Official Committee to develop infrastructure in all medical colleges. The Committee should visit each college and submit a report on the development of amenities, requirements of funds, expedite the completion of all works in the colleges, and seek assistance from the government etc.

Health department review

CM Revanth Reddy held a review with the officials of the Health department at the ICCC today. The CM discussed several issues raised by the National Medical Council (NMC) regarding the medical colleges in the state. Issues which were discussed in the meeting:

1) recruitment of doctors, paramedical staff, and administration staff in government medical colleges

2) Promotion of teaching staff in the medical colleges

3) Increase in beds in hospitals affiliated with medical colleges

4) Procurement of medical equipment

5) Filling of pending vacancies

Stating that the state government will release necessary funds immediately, the Chief Minister said that the officials should bring to the attention of the government the release of funds and permissions from the Union Ministry of Health immediately. The Government will address all these issues by approaching the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, and the concerned officials in the ministry, the CM said.

Japanese language in Nursing colleges

Given the high demand for nursing staff in Japan, CM instructed the officials to include Japanese language as an optional subject in the Nursing Colleges. The Japanese Government has already extended its support to provide arrangements for teaching the Japanese language to nursing students in the state, the Chief Minister said.

Patients to be tracked through Apps

CM Revanth Reddy also suggested to the officials to study the issue of using an App to closely monitor the patients who come to the hospitals, doctors' services to the patients, and the timings of hospitals. Considering the importance of the medical services and medical education, the Chief Minister instructed the state Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to conduct a review of these two wings in the third week of every month.

The thrust of the government is to strengthen the government hospitals in the state so that the people can utilize the facilities.
