Warangal excise inspector suspended for leaving headquarters without permission

Warangal: In light of the ongoing silent period – the last 48 hours of polling – and the violations of its terms by politicians and government employees, an official from the state prohibition and excise department has been suspended for leaving the headquarters without permission.

According to sources, in the Warangal division, there had been an allegation of cash seizure without FIR in the Medipally police station. Seizures of cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals and freebies have been taking place daily in the state by various enforcement agencies ever since the MCC for the Telangana State Assembly elections came into effect.

As per information from the deputy commissioner of prohibition and excise G Anjan Rao, excise inspector (Warangal Urban) A Anjith Rao was placed under suspension with immediate effect when it was found that Anjith Rao left the headquarters without permission. The step was taken in accordance with relevant sub-sections of Rule 8 of Telangana State Civil Services (CC&A) rules, 1991.

In the official letter dated November 28, communicating about the suspension of Anjith Rao and marked to other senior officials including the commissioner and director of Prohibition and Excise, it was further ordered by the deputy commissioner of prohibition and excise that during the period this order remains in force, the headquarters of Anjith Rao shall be at Warangal Urban and he shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the deputy commissioner (excise and prohibition) Anjan Rao.

According to the letter of the deputy commissioner, during the period of his suspension, inspector Anjith Rao shall be eligible for payment of Subsistence Allowance as per the rules in force.

Ever since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force on October 9, there have been multiple cases and allegations of violations by candidates and political parties. In some cases, wherever the violation was proven, the Election Commission (EC) issued notices and asked for explanations from the errant party or person.
