Hyderabad: Telangana minister of IT and industries K.T Rama Rao on Friday said Hyderabad is truly a cosmopolitan city as it does not cancel comedians like Munawar Faruqui and Kunal Kamra.

"We are truly a cosmopolitan city. In our city, stand-up comedians gets an open invite. We do not cancel shows of Munawar Farugu or Kunal Kamra just because we are not aligning with them politically. We truly are welcoming," said KTR.

The minister was speaking at the inauguration of the US-based Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, commonly known as Mass Mutual, office in Hyderabad.

KTR said that while Bangalore claimed to be a cosmopolitan city, they take comedy very seriously. "I am also saying this to the people from Bangalore, you claim to be a cosmopolitan city and end up taking comedy very seriously."

He added, "We are a truly cosmopolitan city. We welcome all cultures and criticisms. You can come here and criticize the government. We receive bricks from our opposition but we are very tolerant. So, those who want to come to Hyderabad, make this your place, make this your home. We welcome you and with more opportunities and more investment coming in, I think Hyderabad is truly a global city," said KTR.

Mass Mutual has hired more than 300 persons and the company has already leased a 1.5 lakh sqft office space in the city's Financial District area.
