Hyderabad: According to the Telangana government's lockdown guidelines, only 40 people can be allowed at marriage ceremonies. However, on the night of 24 May, the rule was violated at a wedding, attended by VIPs, that took place adjacent to Savera Function Hall under Kamatipura police station limits.

According to sources, the groom is the son of a senior IPS officer serving in Telangana and the bride is the daughter of the Dubey perfume owner.

It is alleged that the event started at 8 p.m and went on till late hours. Surprisingly, many VIPs, including IPS officers, attended the marriage that had an orchestra, firecrackers, and a band. Also, many guests were seen without masks.

The spokesperson of Majlis Bachao Tehreek party, Amjed Ullah Khan, said, "I called up and sent messages to several police officers, from the Kamatipura inspector of police to the night duty officer, but no one responded."

Several videos have surfaced in which many VIP vehicles can be seen parked outside the wedding hall along with security personnel.

Mr. Khan, in a letter to minister K.T Rama Rao, said that there should be a high-level inquiry into how the Hyderabad police could allow the wedding to continue for eight hours. "I am sure you will ask Anjani Kumar, the commissioner Hyderabad, to order an inquiry and book all VIPs and IPS officers who attended this function, breaking lockdown rules," he added.

Meanwhile, the Kamatipura police said they have not booked any case regarding the violation of lockdown rules. "We are looking into the issue and will proceed accordingly," said G. Rambabu, the CI of Kamatipura police station.
