‘A Day with CP’: Hyderabad Police launch 45-day familiarization tour for students; 20 met Sajjanar on day 1
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police have launched a 45-day initiative to demystify policing and inspire the next generation.
‘A Day with CP’ was officially launched on April 1. On the inaugural day, Hyderabad Police hosted meritorious students from Classes 8 to 10 of different government high schools.
The students met Hyderabad Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar. Later, they were given a familiarization tour, during which they had a firsthand look at police operations.
How the programme works
Every day, a group of 20 students, 10 boys and 10 girls, is selected to shadow the police department from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The initiative aims to provide students with a firsthand experience of field-level operations, bridge the gap between the public and the police, and nurture a sense of social responsibility among youth.
Hands-on Experience
The programme’s inauguration was led by Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanarat at the CCS Office in Bashirbagh. During the inaugural session, students from Mangalhat Government School watched the Commissioner’s video conference on security arrangements for the upcoming ‘Sri Veera Hanuman Vijaya Yatra.’
Beyond observing the top brass, the students toured the city’s high-tech policing hubs, including:
Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC), Banjara Hills
Cyber Crime Wing & IT Cell
SHE Teams and Special Branch
Main PCR & CAR Headquarters
During these tours, senior officers interacted with the students, explaining the critical role of technology in preventing crime, the importance of women’s safety, and the day-to-day challenges of maintaining law and order.
Why such an initiative?
Reflecting on the initiative, Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar stated that the police force is not merely a mechanism to control crime, but a service-oriented system that ensures public safety. He emphasized that the primary objective of ‘A Day with CP’ is to instil social responsibility and respect for the law among children from a young age.
