Pushpa 2 stampede: Case booked against Allu Arjun’s team, Sandhya Theatre

Hyderabad: Chikkadpally police registered a case against Sandhya theatre management and Allu Arjun's security team, following the death of a woman after the stampede at the theatre in RTC X road during Pushpa-2 premiere.

Here’s the police version of what happened during the ‘Pushpa-2 The Rule’ premiere show:

- On the night of December 4, at Sandhya 70 mm theater at Chikkadpally RTC X road at 9:40 pm, a Pushpa 2 premiere show was scheduled. A huge crowd had gathered there not only to enjoy the movie but also in the heavy anticipation of getting a glimpse of the movie's lead actors who were coming to the theatre.

- However, there was no intimation from the theater’s management or the actors’ team that they would be visiting.

The theatre management did not make any additional provisions for security to manage the crowd. There was no separate entry or exit for the actors’ team even though the theatre management was informed about their arrival.

- Around 9:30 pm, actor Allu Arjun came to Sandhya theatre with his personal security and everyone gathered there tried to enter the theater with him.

- His personal security team started pushing the public which aggravated the situation as the large crowd was already frenzied.

- Taking advantage of the situation, along with the actor and his security team, a large number of people entered the lower balcony area.

- It was around this time when Revathi (35), her husband Bhaskar and their son Sri Tej (13) were unable to move or breathe due to the swell of the large crowd against them. The family came from Dilshuknagar to watch the movie.

- Immediately, the police personnel on duty pulled them out of the public in the lower balcony to relative safety. They performed CPR on her son and immediately took them to the nearby Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital.

- The doctor there declared Revathi dead and advised Sri Tej to be shifted to another hospital for better treatment.

- A case has been booked under Section 105,118(1) r/w 3(5) BNS act in Chikkadpally Police Station based on the complaint of the family members of the deceased. The case is being investigated.

- Stringent action as per law will be taken against all persons responsible for the chaos inside the theatre leading to the death of a person and injury to others, the police said.
