Wings India 2026: GMR Aero Technic, Hyderabad, wins top honors for best MRO services
Hyderabad: GMR Group-run Delhi International Airport won the `Best Airport of the Year’, while GMR Aero Technic, Hyderabad, won the top honor for best MRO services at Wings India 2026.
The award is part of multiple honors received by GMR Group at Wings India 2026. The awards were presented by Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu during the event.
Awards won in three categories
- Delhi International Airport (DIAL) — Best Airport of the Year
For performance in passenger experience, operational efficiency, infrastructure development, and technology-led innovation
- Delhi International Airport (DIAL) — Sustainability Champion
For renewable energy adoption, carbon neutrality initiatives, waste management, and water stewardship.
- GMR Aero Technic (Hyderabad) — Best MRO Services
For its aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, including base maintenance and specialised technical services.
Wings India is a flagship civil aviation exhibition and conference that brings together airlines, airport operators, aircraft manufacturers, MRO providers, and aviation stakeholders from India and abroad.
Delhi Airport Named ‘Best Airport of the Year’
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which operates Indira Gandhi International Airport, was adjudged the ‘Best Airport of the Year’. The recognition covers performance across passenger experience, operational efficiency, infrastructure development, and technology adoption.
Delhi airport is one of the country’s largest aviation hubs, handling both domestic and international traffic, and has expanded its terminals and runway capacity over the past decade to support growing passenger volumes.
Delhi Airport Recognised as ‘Sustainability Champion’
In addition to the overall airport award, Delhi Airport was also named “Sustainability Champion.” The title recognises initiatives related to renewable energy use, carbon neutrality programmes, waste management systems, water conservation measures, and environmentally focused airport operations.
Delhi Airport has implemented solar power usage, energy-efficiency projects, and resource management systems as part of its long-term sustainability roadmap.
GMR Aero Technic Wins ‘Best MRO Services’ Award
GMR Aero Technic received the ‘Best MRO Services’ award at Wings India 2026 for its contribution to aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities in India.
The company operates from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad and runs a narrow-body MRO facility. Its services include base maintenance for narrow-body aircraft as well as structural repairs, avionics upgrades, component repairs, and aircraft painting.
India’s aviation sector has been pushing to expand domestic MRO capacity to reduce dependence on overseas maintenance facilities and lower operational costs for airlines.
