Hyderabad: Gachibowli in Hyderabad witnessed the lowest minimum temperature on Saturday with the mercury settling at 17 degree Celsius.

The city had been experiencing a notable temperature drop accompanied by a biting wind chill during the evening and early morning hours.

Over the past week, Hyderabad encountered significant temperature variations. On December 3, the city recorded 19.7 degree Celsius, 20.6 degree Celsius on December 4, and a higher mark of 22.5 degree Celsius on December 5.

However, temperatures dipped again on December 7 and 6, registering 20.6 degree Celsius and 20.2 degree Celsius, respectively. December 8 saw a minor increase to 20.4 degrees Celsius, but the mercury took a significant plunge on December 9, hitting a low of 17 degrees Celsius.

Despite the fluctuations, the India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad (IMD-H), indicated that there won’t be a further drop in minimum temperatures across the city.

Dr. A. Sravani, Scientist ‘C’ at IMD-H, explained, "From Saturday onward, both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain above normal, with minimum temperatures hovering around 20 degrees Celsius."

Dr. Sravani attributed the recent drop to prevailing winds due to the earlier cloudy weather stemming from the cyclone’s effect. She reassured, "At least until mid-December, the city is not likely to experience the peak of winter temperatures."

While the wind chill affected the recent temperature drop, Dr. Sravani anticipates a return to milder conditions. Hyderabadis can expect a gradual return to relatively warmer weather over the coming days.
