Woman dies after struck by bus from behind at Kothaguda crossroads

A woman walking home from work died after being hit by an RTC bus at Kothaguda crossroads in Madhapur on Friday night. The victim, K Madhavi (25), was a resident of Barkatpura and was working in a company in Madhapur.

The accident occurred around 8:30 pm when Madhavi was crossing the road near the busy Kothaguda X junction. According to the police, the RTC bus struck her from behind. The injured woman was rushed to a nearby private hospital and later transferred to Gandhi Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries early Saturday while undergoing treatment.

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the crossroads. Madhapur police have registered a case against the bus driver and are reviewing the footage to establish whether any negligence was involved.

Speaking about the accident, D Krishna Mohan, inspector of police from Madhapur police station said, “We have registered a case and are thoroughly investigating the circumstances that led to the accident. The CCTV footage will help us determine the sequence of events and if there was any negligence on the part of the driver.”

The Kothaguda X roads, known for their heavy traffic, are a frequent spot for accidents. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution while crossing roads, especially in high-traffic areas like Madhapur.
