Hyderabad: A 25-year-old woman died under suspicious circumstances after falling from the ninth floor of My Home Bhooja Apartments in Raidurgam.
While the police suspected it to be a suicide, the investigation took a turn after two sarees and a dupatta were discovered tied to the balcony railing.
According to Raidurgam inspector Venkanna, Rajesh Babu (54), a resident of the ninth floor of My Home Bhooja Apartments brought Ashvita Singh from Odisha on October 24 through a mediator named Sandeep for surrogacy purposes.
Rajesh kept Ashvita confined to his flat for a month, not allowing her to leave. Meanwhile, her husband was allotted a flat in the same apartment complex but was not permitted to meet her. During this time, Ashvita was unhappy with the arrangement and planned to leave the flat.
āOn November 26 night, she attempted to escape by tying a saree to the balcony and climbing down to another floor. She slipped and fell from the top of the building, resulting in her death. Her husband filed a complaint,ā said the inspector.
Rajesh Babu had reportedly made a financial agreement with her for Rs 10 lakhs. The surrogacy procedure was scheduled to begin next month and she was not yet pregnant.
It has been alleged that Rajesh had misbehaved with the victim and attempted to abuse her. The police said that they would know the exact reason after a complete investigation. The Raidurgam police have registered a case.
