Woman returning from Alwal police station raped by auto driver, friends

Hyderabad: In a horrifying incident, a 29-year-old woman, returning from the police station after lodging a complaint against her husband was gang-raped by an auto-rickshaw driver and his friends.
The auto driver identified as Shankar has been arrested. The other two are absconding.
The incident occurred on the night of July 12 (Friday) in the Alwal area of Hyderabad.
According to the complaint lodged by the 29-year-old woman from Yapral, on July 12 evening, she went to Alwal Police Station to file a complaint against her husband.
The woman booked an auto (AP11 TA 0266) through Uber to reach the police station. After lodging her complaint, the auto driver, who had waited near the station, approached her to drop her. The auto driver has been identified as Shankar.
According to the complainant, while returning, the auto driver took her to Lothukunta through the bylanes. He stopped near a bar towards Golnaka T Junction. When she questioned why he stopped, he brought two of his friends and made them sit in the same auto. After that, he took the auto to the left side of Golnaka T Junction, took a lane of Venkatraopet in Alwal, and proceeded to an open ground near BS Venkatrao Statue.
The auto was parked near a white car beside a Maisamma temple and the auto driver and his two friends pulled her into the car and sexually assaulted her. The auto driver fled from the spot after the crime.
At around 2:45 am on Saturday, the victim managed to escape from the two persons and she walked for a while, shouting for help. With the help of a goods carrier auto, she reached a Ganesh temple and with the help of two persons she called the police. The Bollarum police immediately reached the spot and took her to the police station.
A zero FIR was registered and the case was transferred to Alwal police station. The Alwal police initiated an investigation.
