Hyderabad: To ensure the safety of women passengers in the city, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on Monday announced that buses can be stopped (hail and board) and boarded in the middle of the road between any two bus stops in Hyderabad after 7.30 p.m.

The TSRTC said the decision is part of the measures to provide better facilities to passengers and safe bus travel for women at night.

Orders have also been issued to all drivers and conductors in the Greater Hyderabad zone in this regard. If women face any inconvenience, they can complain to the depot manager concerned who will conduct a thorough investigation and take steps to prevent similar incidents in the future, the Corporation said.

TSRTC urged all women to take advantage of this facility and travel safely on RTC buses. It has also provided the phone numbers of the depot managers. If the bus driver or conductor does not follow the rules, passengers can contact the depot manager and lodge a complaint.

"Travel on RTC buses is safe and hygienic. Support the RTC and contribute to the progress of the company," said V. Venkateshwarlu, the executive director of TSRTC, Greater Hyderabad Zone.
