Women power at Hunar Haat: Meet the independent women entrepreneurs at Hyd exhibition
Several craftsmen and artisans from various parts of India had set up stalls at Hunar Haat held at the NTR Stadium in Indira Park in Hyderabad.

Sandhya Patel
Stall no. 29 at the food court 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh' in Hunar Haat belongs to Sandhya Patel from Madhya Pradesh. Her husband used to prepare and sell chocolates to earn a livelihood but he lost his job due to COVID-19. Since then, the burden on the family has increased. Even the children's school fees could not be paid. When they heard about Hunar Haat, Sandhya applied for a stall at the event. She had previously set up stalls in Vrindavan, Surat, and Pondicherry.
Sandhya has been attending Hunar Haat for the last four years and she has been earning and supporting the family with the income from the Haat. She is able to pay her children's school fees. Sandhya's husband is now helping her. Sandhya says Hunar Haat has improved her life.
Shahnaz Bano
Stall no. 31 belongs to Shahnaz Bano. Shahnaz hails from the Nainital district in Uttarakhand. She sells sweets and snacks. She got her first chance at Rampur Hunar Haat and was allotted a stall at Hyderabad Hunar Haat this year. Shehnaz says, "Hunar Haat gave me the courage to step out of my house. My confidence has grown and I want to do better in my job in the future."
Meenu Jain
Meenu Jain has a stall in 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh'. Her stall, number 50, is named 'Chat to Delhi'. With the proceeds from the Hunar Hat in Delhi, Meenu was able to raise money for her son's education in London.
Rebeca
Rebecca, who sells dried flowers at stall no. 122, is from Nagaland. She said she was happy with the response at the Haat in Hyderabad. She was also part of the Hunar Haat in Delhi, Bhopal, Goa, and Lucknow. She said her family of three brothers and two sisters is getting a lot of help with the income from the exhibition.
