Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has forecasted an extension of the ongoing rainy spell in Hyderabad, predicting rainfall for the next four days.

According to the IMD, a generally cloudy sky with periods of rain or thundershowers is expected across the city until August 17.

Yellow Alert for Hyderabad

In light of the anticipated weather, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad and several other districts in Telangana.

The alert is valid for districts including Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem, Mancherial, Jagtial, J. Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Kamareddy, Medak, Hanamkonda, Mulugu, M. Malkajgiri, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, B. Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Hyderabad.

Balaji, Popularly knows as Telangana Weatherman on X (formerly known as Twitter) said ā€œCitizens should remain cautious as thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds are expected in some parts of the region. These conditions could potentially lead to localized disruptions."

Recent Rainfall and Anticipated Impact

The Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) reported that the highest rainfall recorded yesterday was 93.5 mm in Mahabubabad, while in Hyderabad, Maredpally saw 9 mm of rainfall.

The predicted rains for the next four days are expected to increase the overall rainfall levels in the city and other parts of Telangana.

The IMD also provided a detailed forecast for the upcoming days, predicting light to moderate rain or thundershowers at various locations across Telangana through August 20.

Temperature and Winds

For Hyderabad, the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 32Ā°C, while the minimum may drop to about 24Ā°C. Surface winds are expected to be westerlies/north-westerlies with speeds ranging between 6-12 kmph.

The extended weather outlook suggests that while the intensity of rain may vary, Hyderabad and other warned districts will continue to experience rainy conditions.

The IMD has urged residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions during this period of unstable weather.
